The 45th VGIK International Student Festival is an annual international student film festival organized by the Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. Gerasimov (VGIK), with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Established in 1961 and becoming international in 1970, its primary objective is to identify and encourage young talent in filmmaking. The festival typically occurs in two stages, encompassing VGIK internal competitions and international film and theatre competitions. Notable alumni who have been winners at the VGIK Festival include Andrei Konchalovsky, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Nikita Mikhalkov. The events and screenings are held in both Russian and English across VGIK and cinemas in Moscow, as well as over 35 cities in Russia.
