The 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) was held in Tehran, Iran, from October 19-24, 2022. Organized by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the festival featured films from 35 countries, competing in international and national sections across categories such as fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films. As an Academy Awards® qualifying event since 2020, the Grand Prize winner of TISFF becomes eligible for Oscar consideration, with the Spanish short film "Descartes" receiving this honor at the 39th edition. More than 5000 films from 131 countries were submitted, and 59 films were selected to compete in the international section.
